Aside from the pad issues on the 1k should one be concerned with buying a used machine?

What type of problems usually arise with these MPCs??

Are there any typical problems besides the weak pads on the 1000?

Things i own

TS88
NL2
NOVA II
RMIX
MPC1000

Things ive owned

VIRUS RACK
XL-TURBO
MS2000R
SH101

Crappiest build ..... award goes to

MS2000R

Crappiest keys.... award goes to

NL2 (but i love it)

Best build quality (feel wise anyway)....... bar those horrible plastic ends

Mpc1000 (my opinon based on what ive owned used)

dials sliders switches could be better but it feels like a tank

Things to watch out for....

Anything

same with everything else

example and coincidence my triton calendar battery died to day i need to replace it thank god its only 75p.

If your that bothered buy brand new = warranty

My mpc was secondhand saving me £200 ($400) off the asking price and had 256mb (128mb) installed

Bargain owned by 2 previous owners who thought they could be dre in seconds.

Things i always look for when buying sh gear (and avoid or ask seller the correct questions)

Missing switches
Faded details ie wortds rubbing off
Flight cases
Manuals and boxes missing
experience of the user (if they don't know hsit they ain't used it unless they dropped there milk on it and never got the chance)

Its like buying anything secondhand you take the risk

do your homework on the seller
