any MPD 24 Tutorials

I just got it and I was wondering if there is any type of info for this unit.. I doubt that there is I just figured that I would ask just incase... I thought it would be fairly simple figured there would be a icon for it and I would just load my samples into it and off I would go but that's not the case... seems like Im always wrong when guessing how a piece of software/hardware will work... LOL I'll read more into it and get messing with it. but let me know if you have any info that might help or if you have one let me know what and how you use your mpd

The MPD 24 does not hold any samples itself. It is simply a MIDI controller. You will need to use it in conjunction with a sampler program such as Fruity Loops, Live or Reason. It will control those programs as well as pretty much any sampler program available. There are preset settings for different programs to get you started in the unit....

The mpd is just a controller like EMF pointed out, i think u must have thought its a sampler / sequencer like an mpc, u should make sure u know what ur buyin first before u purchace something.

So do u have any experience with software samplers / sequencers? coz if not u gonna have to work out which one u wanna use and learn to work u way around that too..

But to be honest friend if your cpu doesn't instantly transfer midi data or real close to the time you trigger a drum sound the mpd-24 is kind of useless. Because you will still have to quantize on the paino roll. So its basically using the piano roll with step off.

i sold mine this Tuesday and only had it for two weeks.

U dont wanna quanitize and have some computer soundin beats with no swing.. its about doin the sh!t manualy.. even if i play somin and its off i still move each note individually when fixin it.. i dont and wont use quantize

Dude when did i say to use quantize? I said you shouldn't get an mpd-24 if your computer doesn't transfer midi instantly because then you would have to quantize it - which defeats the whole purpose of the mpd-24.

Nah i get u.. i know u didnt say to use it, u just said ud have to use it in a certain situation where ur controllers gonna lag and the beats all gonna hit out, but still u wouldnt want peeps quantisin, coz it wont have no swing they should edit the bits manualy regardless so it still sounds human..

..and if they quantized it, they'd then still have to move everything manually afterwards to give it some swing, othwise it wouldnt have none

thanks yall, might have to put this on ebay don't think that I need this jump off at all.... think I got a little trigger happy with this purchase... LOL oh well that's what ebay's for but if I were to keep it what would be a good sampler that will keep my sounds stereo? wouldn't I want to have stereo sounds if I were to sample a vinyl? or is mono okay? I know that someone in another forum said something about coppin' recycle along with reason and that's a pretty good sample'n situation there...

what equipment are you using now? you can use fl + adobe audition to chop, sample and produce.

let us know what u working with.

FL7 is now an ALL IN ONE solution.. it has one click recording (sampling), it has an audio editor (like recycle and adobe audition) and a very ILL sequencer.. with tons and tons more features.

the MPD24 is a perfect match for FL.. you just have to take your time to learn the ropes and dont give up when you cant start making beats instantly.. its not going to happen instantly..

I'm currently running FL7 PE and Cool Edit Pro 2.0

I've been meesing with the MPD but have yet to make anything that I would consider a hot track. Any suggestions?

I can't figure out how to add variations to my loops after I initially lay them or any other good effects. The loops that I end up with don't have that wow factor. I saw a just blaze video on youtube and the stuff he was doing with his MPC4000 is what made me finally cop one. He mad it look simple to create straight fire in 5 minutes. Naturally I know i've gotta keep messing around with the hardware and begin to find my own sound but, I want to make sure I get a good ground under me before I get off and running.

It seems that I have everything set up correctly. The MPC2500 preset on the MPD works perfectly with all the pads on the FPC of FL7. I've been chopping samples with Cool Edit and I know how to beat slice and use most of the features in FL7.

With all of that said. LET ME GET A FEW TIPS PPL! (PAUSE)

I have a lot of (60's - 70's) samples and I can upload the FL Studio Bible ebook if anyone wants it. I have alot to share if I could get some knowledge. Thanx n advance
