I want to try to take my beats to the next level!!

wattup yall been makin beats for a little under a year now.. i ain't even anywhere near what/where i think i'm good much less where i want to be..

but uh networked wit some locals cats in my area, they be doing they thing and showed em some of jointz and now they askin for em..

thing is this, i ain't never even thought beyond the whole make beats and THEN sell them or have actual people bust over them and drop on em on they joints..

I'm comin for yall for some assistance...

I'm rockin the mpc 1k so what i been doing is jus RE sampling into my sampler as a wave... then turnin that wave into a mp3, but that been mostly jus so i can show em to cats that aint be comin up in my studio...

but did some research and realize this MIGHt not be the best and dopest way to do it....

what am i missin here yo? wahts the correct and optimal way to get my beats to the next level i.e. get em ready to give to cats so they can get down on them...

my homie got a zoom 1266 digital recorder but that seems more for recording your actual track drops...

i do got a macbook pro with ableton live and garageband on it too tho...


so yeah hopefully some of yall can help me get started or at least point me in the right direction....

if you're interested in tracking your beats out into the computer you man need a midi interface and some software to work with.

but i dont see why the way you do it now wont work. i mean thats how you get the music onto the computer either way you do it. you gotta record the music into your computer. wether you track it out or just record down into 2 track. although some say once you convert to mp3 format you lose some quality but i've never heard a difference....

If you have ableton then record to that, it's great. You will probably need an audio interface, but you may just try using the line-in on the macbook and see if the quality is to your satisfaction. yeah like smoove said, you can either record track by track (each instrument by itself) or mixed down to stereo. If you do it track by track you will be able to apply EQ and effects to the instruments with Ableton to help get the mix right. Also, use Ableton for recording your vocals and sequencing it. Once you got the track finished on Able you can render it to aif, wav, mp3 or whatever you want. good luck!
