high pitch vocals

high pitch vocals

hey i recently purchased a 1k and i learned the drums and sampling and all that but i got a few soul records with vocals how can i make them high pitch vocals like kanye(dont want to be kanye lol) i just always found high pitch vocals nice but if ya can help me out thanks

also set up mpc, 2 numark turntable, and mixer (i think is called the chipmunk thenique not really sure lol)

Just sample these vocals that you want and tune them up, turn the pitch up without changing the samples length. Don't know if mpc 1000 can do that, but surely every decent audio editing program for pc is capable of doing it.

i had the exact same question, when i pitch the vocals up the sample is way too fast... the mpc1000 does it for sure with the newest OS...i just dont know how???

you guys can try and 16 level these vocal samples (tune) and that way you can test out all kinds of pitches of the same sample. Try it. Hope that helps..

This will change the speed at which the sample plays.
From trim screen go to edit, scroll through those.

change the tune, and yes the 1000 is capable of doing this.

i apreciate all that but i did some research and found that you have to pitch it up and then time stretch it after so it wont be too fast right? but ya so what do some of yall put your pitch at and time stretch settings atight thnx my bad for some many questions haha

I think the way Kanye started doing that was not to get high pitch chipmunk effect, but to just speed up slow soul records to a tempo that someone could rap to. If yours ends up too fast, then either your starting with a sample that isn't slow enough OR you're just OD'ing on the chipmunk effect (like taking a 60bpm beat and tuning it up to a 95bpm.

You have to practice some discretion nowadays with that technique...or you'll come up with a dated sound.

I'm really starting to hate those damn high pitched vocals. It seems like nowadays anybody and they're mom uses 'em on a lot of tracks...

dude i love the hipitched vocals it makes a track fire...i mean any vocals from the 70's on a hiphop track is hot pitched or not. But this trend is just like the SOUTHERN hiphop trend. Everybody wants to have a 3 key synth melody from the korg triton, snaps and an 808...from there uve got a platnium "SINGLE" and thats it.....come back next year for another one. :roll:
