MPC or Computer?

I've been making beat and producing songs for a long time now. I know gear and all that. And I'm thinking about getting an MPC, is it worth it? Can it do anything my computer loaded with Ableton Live, Reason, other software and a hugh sound library can't do? Does it have a distinct sound or character?

If it's a must have, which one must I have?

I just bought an MPC 2500 and I think it is great. I have used both software, and hardware for making beats for a while now and I can tell you the MPC is a great piece of gear. Can it do everything your computer can do? no, but It can do certain things a whole lot better than your computer can do. Like many people have said and now having owned one I can agree, workflow and creativeness. Becoming one with the beat type a thing. I would get a computer and an MPC if I were you. The best way I could put it is like this, the MPC is like Egor on Frankenseins back. "Frankenstein being the Computer,or Workstation." Together they clean house.

software you already have can do way more than MPC alone

btw IMO nice synth like motif, triton or fantom in conjuction with live would be more efficient than any mpc


all mpcs have a distinctive sound to them due to their analog converters versus 2500 and 1000. but that dont make your beats hot. it's what you make of it
