Cant i just use a CD Player & my MPC 500 2 create beats?

Im not gonna front been wanting to do it for years as i was always a DJ aty heart and have been doing that for 11 years now..
Anyways i copped my mpc500 from jbsmusic.com for a cool £389.99
thats the cheapest ive found on the net....
I Dont have a computer,my bro duz and im worried that wont let me create beats .....can i just take it back to the raw and bring a cd player & hook that up and start bangin it out ?

You can do that, just need the right connections.
RCA to 1/4, or 1/4 to 1/4 depending on the output of the CD Player.

hell yeah u can do that man. as long as u get the right connections any audio hookup is possible. i hooked up my ipod to my mpc500. i bought a special wire for the ipod at an apple/mac store to hook it up, it got headphone size on one side and rca on the other side, then i got rca to 1/4 inch adapters to plug into the mpc. u can use the same method. it sounds more complicated than wut it is, but its definitely worth it. at most it might cost $30 (usd) to buy those adapters unless u look and find better deals (which u can).

once u do it then u wont need a computer much. go for it man, its a real good move.

thanx ,im not gonna front i love hip hop & have no experience in the production game but could do with some more pointers from the mpcforum fam as this looks like sum tricky ish!!

it definitely is tricky. u better hav that book next to u wen ur trying to make something. start off with a simple small sequence to get the feel of it, sample, get the feel of loading and saving (loading/saving samples, sequences, & programs)... thats still a pain to me sometimes now wen i try stepping it up to save songs and projects.

if you wanna "take it back to the raw" hook up a turntable, get you some vinyl and get to bangin'.....

not saying its wrong to sample from cd, but i mean if you gonna take it back dont half step, TAKE IT BACK!!!
