AM I RIGHT IN THINKING THIS IS HOW AN MPC WORKS

I looking at buying a loop recorder but ive come across the mpc's
so i want to record say some beat boxing.
then overdub a guitar riff then a bline.
So what im asking is does the mpc allow this all to be done quickly?
Can i create a multisample piano sound or is it just phrases?
How many separate loops can i use at once in a sequence?

But to answer one of your questions, I would say the maximum loops that can be done in one sequence on the 500 would be (assuming your talking about layered loops and all loops are mono) 32. The mpc 500 has a polyphony of 32.

I think an MPC might not fit your needs.

If you want this done quickly (like on the fly) you should consider other gear.

I saw this comedian perform with a microphone and some foot operated phrase/loop sampler on the floor. He beatboxed 2 bars and hit a button, then it started looping. Then he would overdub record on that loop again, creating a whole tune on stage, instantly.

I don't know what gear he was using, but it wasn't an MPC.

PS: MPC can record and loop samples, and can be used to create any kind of music. But they are mainly drumsamplers and work better for drumhits then for looped sounds. (MPC500 tends to cut loops because of how it assigns its voices)
