Noob Mpc Question Jus Needa Know!?

Ok guys now I am buying and mpc 2000 soon but I never could figure out how the mpc does it....You would have a zip disk full of drums say like 500 drums but the mpc only has 64 pads altogether, but how does the mpc go about letting u preview all fo those sounds I know it makes programs but does it make a program for each half of the drums? 500 drums would be alot and u only have 64 pads to work with but how are u able to use/preview all 500 drums sounds if theres only 64 pads altogether? PLEASE SOMEONE EXPLAIN! I REALLY NEED HELP IF I GET THIS THIS WOULD HELP ME OUT ALOT!

AT LEAST IM NOT ASKING HOW TO PUT SOUNDS INTO THE MPC! LOL

any MPC is basically a computer with cooler buttons than normal. inside a computer they have this thing called memory. you can grab part of this memory and put it aside for various things. we'll call this little piece the internal buffer.

now, normally you create a program and assign a different sound to each pad. that all sits in a different part of the memory. but when you preview sounds, the computer calls up the sample from the zip disk, throws it into the internal buffer, plays it from the buffer and you can preview it. when you flip to the next sample on the zip disk, it throws the old sample out of the buffer and loads up the new one.

there is only one "slot" being used to preview samples, which has been set aside by the engineers for exactly this purpose when they designed the MPC....

soo do I really need programs? when I can just save all of the sounds from the beat into one big file soo I wont have to load up the sounds with those zips again...?

yes, you really need programs. it will help you immensely to learn how to organize your joints.....

ok cool I know how to save the beat but see I have a usb zip drive and I will be getting a SCSI Sip for the mpc but If I add sounds to the usb zip then put it into the scsi zip would I make a program for all those sounds? or will the mp do it automatically when I load it up?

nah you have to make your own programs

oo ok I see....soo after it makes a program for all 64 sounds of 500 or whatever den what If i use the sounds out of the 64 pads eden what? Sorry for all the questions like this almost in the same format but I really need to know soo I wont have to keep comming back with the same questions and bugging ya'll....But I jus need to know like if I use sounds out of the 64 pads will those sounds be in that program too?

I doubt you'll use all 64 pads
unless you're writng for an orchestra
the you may use 2 banks at best
but that's about it
and yes, the sounds you put in your program are available to you in that file
even if you dont use them
but damn thats a big file

hahah naw im not sayin im gonna use all 64 pads but u know wen u go thru like different banks and stuff like dat I jus wanted to know if the mpc will make a program for all the sounds on that disc into 1 program? thats what I really needed to know If every sounds would be in that program even thoe u wont use all of em within the 64 pads/4 banks
