A Few MPC3000 Questions...

I'm thinking about getting an MPC3000. I've had an XL2000 before and it was cool. I sold it though because I needed the money for rent/trips. I was wondering about a few things regarding the 3000.

1) I know it's kinda an older machine, do you need to run a start-up disk everytime you turn it on like an ASR-10?

2) It's standard floppy drive I believe, so if I get this do I need to get floppy disks from like... Best buy to save? or will it not work.

3) Also, Is it worth getting a zip drive via scsi for the 3000?

4) Is it similiar or harder to use than the 2000xl?

Sup man, I wouldn't recommend you to get the 3K unless you've been producing for a long time. Sure they sound great but with technology these days, you can make dope beats on anything.

However, to answer your question:

1) You don't need a start-up disk. The OS is flash based rom just like the 2KXL.

2) Yes, HD or DD floppies are both fine. But I recommend SCSI external storage anyway whether Zip, Jaz or even a HardDrive.

3) Yes it's worth it. Save you time and hassle

4) Similar: Yes. Harder: No, if you know what you're doing. Everything is layout right there. Keep in mind tho, it's an older machine so there's no .wav file showing on the screen. Everything has be chopped by ears.
