recording into daw, fixed bpm (help please)

so whenever i record a song into my daw (i use acid pro 5) from viynl or any outside source, i cant ever get the bpm becuase when acid opens up its defult is 120 bpm, how would i make it so when i open acid up, it doesnt have any bpm, so then i could record a song into there, and use the beatmapper to find the bpm of the track?

it wont let me use the beatmapper to find the bpm becuase it is always at 120 after i record my track as opposed to if i put a track on there with no bpm on it, say, a track from a cd or any track just laying around on my computer, then i open it and the beatmapper shows up becuase it has no record of the tracks bpm, but its different when i record directly into acid because it has that fixed bpm ruckuss.

has anyone else run into this problem? what did you do?
any help would be greatly appreciated!
kinda frustrating taking samples off of viynl then not being able to find the bpm using the beatmapper.

Well, I guess you did'nt get a response on account that a lot of folks don't use Acid to track with. I know I don't use it even though I have Acid Pro 6 on my machine. If you're trying to change the default tempo setting, forget it, it ain't happening. However, you can setup a template with a desired tempo setting to fit your taste plus save this for frequent use. And as I understand it, beatmapper does'nt (automatically) function unless you have at least 30 seconds of audio, which it will then detect the first downbeat in order to function. It's no more than an automatic time compress/stretch feature. I will on occasion use Soundforge 8 to work with perfecting loops and such, but I still rely mainly on myself to figure out any tempo there is.

i think you read my question wrong, but that helps me too, in another way. i can set it up cause i never use 120 as my tempo so i ll just set it at 90 for now.

but my problem is that the beatmapper wont recognize the song i recorded in from my record player, becuase when i record it in, acid is set at a specific tempo, and the beatmapper wont beatmap unless the song has no tempo/bpm information in the first place, thats why it works when i import a song from a file already on my computer, and not from one i recorded in (becuase the tempo is already set when i record in).

Sorry if I read that in the wrong way. However I was thinking about the recorded file itself maybe not being flaged as .wav or something. What are your recording properties set at btw? Just taking a wild guess.

the master bus mode is in stereo, with no additional stereo busses, and the sample rate is 44100 and 16 bit depth.
