So... I got a mpd24 for my friend today, plugged it in to his computer and thought that it would all work out smoothly. but no!

I plugged the usb in and downloaded Uniquest, to update the firmware.
I started updating and then it just froze. The old OS in the mpd is erased and i cant seem to update it to the new one, cuz there were no midi in- or outputs for the mpd to choose from in uniquest.

What to do? I guess that i could run the mididump with the new sysx-file thru a midiport on the soundcard, but my friend doesnt have any midicables.

Anyone have any suggestions?

If I remember correctly you dont even use uniquest to update the mpd. You have to extact the OS file to your desktop and then erase and update.

Had same problem tho with the firmware that came on mpd, the usb midi ports didnt show in any application. And got stuck half way thru updating process like you described.

In my case solution was to update the firmware using a mac computer instead pc, and it worked fine after.

FYI: If you cant get the transport buttons to work on the mpd is cuz your DAW dont support MMC. There is a walkaround using bomes midi translator and midiyoke.

thanks.. nice to hear that someone else solved the problem, but it seems as when we solve a problem something else is starting to fck with us.

we bought midicables and sent the sysx thru the soundcard into the mpd.

anyways, now we're able to update the firmware but the mpd freezes when it have recieved all data. Right after i push "enter" on the mpd it unmounts itself from windows and then it freezes.
