new on mpc,how to slice?

Hi everybody,i just bought an mpc 1000.i ve seen a lot of video on utube and that inspired me to bought one,cause evrything looks so simple but right now i ve got a lot of problems.
So 1st question:when i bought it from e bay i have also bought a flash card 128mb,ive formatted that so now is empty i ve just added a sample of 2mb but when i want to edit that(properlyi want to slice it) on part the machine says that the memory is insufficient..What a f..k is wrong with that????

you need to upgrade your internal memory.

i really need it?u know i just bought it and there's nothing on it,just few sample!!
Could you suggest me a good option for upgrading(so this also will be enough in the future)?And where to buy that for cheap?
I ve seen that i can formatt the memory card but i cant format the internal memory,why?

make sure no internal samples load when you boot off the flash rom. But 128 mbs of sampling is plenty. 2000's on max at 32mb, and I can get what I need. With the 1000, use that auto-slicing and just move around start and stop points if you sample a break, and for random sounds, it is basically on your own mind to find what you want.

Now when you sample, if your going to edit, it takes more memory and creates another copy if you "extract" and create a new sounds out of the original sample.

READ THE MANUAL, they are your friend. Of course playing around by yourself helps the creative aspect, know how to use the equipment to release that mind is just as important.

internal memory chip is dfferent than a memory card. Even with the biggest memory card it doesnt matter. Memory cards are for storing your files. The internal memory will allow you to sample larger samples and do more with in the mp. Check ebay or akaipro.com for the 128 internal memory upgrade.

i will try,thx now,but i do not understand why i can't slice a simple 2mb sample.I have 16mb installed on my int memory,so u think will be better to get an 128,right?I will do it and i will try again..Thx for now but i will need your help again in future..

go into the load screen and turn off auto load. when you restart that should clear the ram. if a 2mb sample is maxing out the 16meg ram is not 2mb lol

sorry but theres no autoload function..whattaf...k is wrong with my mpc?!?

go to load screen.....select memory card on the left side

then u should see all of what is loaded on the FC on the right

select the content u need and press DO IT

then assign it to a specific pad and chop from there.


if this dose not work i think u need to re format ur FC then try again

QUESTION how are u gettin ur samples on the mpc 1000 make sure there wav files.

oh my bad, i forgot its only shipped with 16mb, but thats still decent enough to get stuff done.
