I might be in the wrong forum for this and this maybe a dumb question but just wanted to ask: Is there a way of isolating the drum pattern from a sample and using the drum pattern for a beat. I'm talking about a song playing and there is vocals, rythms in it but all I want is the drum pattern, can I silence the rest of the noise so all I hear is the drum pattern so I can sample it. There has to be a way because Kanye did it when he took Dr. Dres drums off of "Xplosive" and sped them up to fit his beat for "this can't be life" for the Dynasty album. Anybody know how to do this, let me know!

Ye didn't do that with XXXplosive
there's open drums all over that record
but to answer your question
if the drums are channeled either to the left or right side
you can get them pretty easy
but if everything is dead center then you have to hunt throughout the record for what you need
