working on the setup.. mpc 2000xl NEED a tt & mixer

I'm just starting to branch off of software and am getting into more hardware.. just got a 2000xl, already have some speakers, and am looking for a good affordable turntable and a mixer (with preamp). I was thinking the numark tt500 as far as turntables go..Anyone have any recommendations? And i'm probably going to be connecting my mac comp to this ish at some point if that matters

If you have the money SoulRebel then get a Technics mk5 or mk2. I'm not throwing dirt on Numark but trust me, a Technics will last you 20+ years and is the best when it comes to scratching if you feel you need to incorporate it into your beats later on down the line. I was stuck in the same predicament and then was convinced to get a technics and I will never go any other route. My friend has a Gemini and its cool but my Technics MK5 is far better. Try looking at craigslist or ebay, I'm sure you will find a good deal man. As far as a mixer, a RANE tt56 or tt54 is cool if your into scratching but if your just interested in sampling, then get something like the Yamaha MG-16, thats what I have and its very clean plus you can alter drum sounds and make your own drum kits by tracking your drums into the mixer. Trust me, I was in the same spot you were in and I was going to get a cheap mixer for like $100 dollars but someone else told me to just be patient and save up to get a better mixer and I did and I couldn't be happier. I know how your feeling, your probably stressed and anxious to get started on some beatmaking but jusst think of it this way, in the long run a cheap mixer will break or some stupid ish will happen to it and you'll be digging in your pocket for a new one. Its a better investment to get a better mixer, I think the yamaha MG12 is like $129-$179 and I got a MK5 for $325 off of craigslist brand new-they will last 20 years. just save up the dough and trust me, you will thank me in the long run!!!

I am starting to think the same way as Cluckner... I have 2 Newmark TTUSB and a Numark Mixer... They are def adequate for what I need from them right now, but the turntable frames seems to be plastic and one of the outputs on the Mixer do not work. I have had them for about a year and am ready to move on. I am not telling you this route is not going to get the job done, but if your money is tight and comes very far and between, ou are better off getting what you can. You can def find decent TT for a reasonable price and mixers are not very exp new depending on the model and make..... Most of us wwould rec Techinics, but if you had that money you would already have them, since they are the industry standard and built like tanks.....


Here is a liitle trick for finding a deal on Technics, buy one with a brokem arm (Just the arm) and buy a replacement arm. I have two tech 12 and I got them for $200 and the arms are like $80, so for $360 I will have a set of techncics that will last me forever...


But whatever you do, buy a direct drive tt set..... And if you buy a mixer, n=make sure the Xfader is replacable....
