I want to buy a M-Audio Project Mix I/O; theres one prob I dont know how to take the l/r main outs from my mv8000 and motifxs6 and make the four wires into two wires so they can go into the project mix. Currently I use one of the pci audiophile cards to do this and record into cubase. I don't have a mixer yet. I'm guessing after I buy a mixer and the project mix I'll have to take the l/r cables from my motif and mv8000 and route them into the mixer on separate channels. But im looking at the mixers on zzsounds and none of them have one cable outputs for channels, they only have two main outs :( How would I go about wiring my motif and mv8000 into a mixer and then into the project mix? If you guys can explain or give me other suggestions that would be awesome.

I don't know what you mean by your statement of needing a mixer because of limited I/O on the project mix. First you need to clear your mind of what you use to do with your current limit of inputs & outputs. From the last that I know of, the project mix I/O still sports eight 1/4 in. jack inputs which is more than what you're currently using. Now feel me in on something I may not know about if what I stated is untrue.

ok I figured it out im not gonna use the project mix, im going to use a tascam fw1082 due to lower cost, and I dont need a mixer because the fw 1082 is a control surface i can mix in my daw. Now my question is how do I use the two l/r line cables from my motif xs6 and connect them to my fw 1082? the project mix,fw1082/1884 only have one hole direct ins unlike mixers which have a l/r line ins... Is it possible to connect my motif xs6 and mv8000 to my fw 1082 without the need of rerouting from a mixer by using its busses?

man - this is a bizzare thread - the fw1082 has 10 inputs - just plug the outputs to the inputs :!:

ok guys i figured out my question... is there a way to connect my motif xs6 and mv 8000 into lets say a fw1082/1882 or a project mix without using more than one channel for each separate piece of gear. That's what I wanted to ask :D

No it's impossible, it can't be done. There's not enough inputs on the tascam. Now are you going to believe the sh!t I just posted or are you going to research this yourself to see if I'm pulling your arm or not?

alih you have to understand that in professional audio gear stereo sources always need two inputs unless your gear has some dedicated stereo inputs...

you just need four cables and nothing else (plus midi cables).
if the reason of your question is that you need the other inputs for other gear than the answer is: yes you can connect your motif and your mv using only one cable from their left outs. you then will hear all of your stereo sound from those machines in mono. if you are fine with that you can use thissettings for monitoring and still track out in stereo later by simply pluging in two more cables.
be creative with your gear...
