using a seperate computer just for storing your audio (help)

any of you guys do this? so it doestn take up all your memory on your "good" computer?

im thinking about doin this, but ihave a sony vaio and a macbook pro i just got with logic.

i wana use my vaio for storing all my stuff and streaming it off of there to my macbook pro.

would i have to use something like an adat or spidif cable? or could i just do it strait usb?

i have a m-audio firewire 410. could i use the spidif in that?

i also have a extra 100 gb harddrive could i store all my files on this and then stream them off of there instead of streaming them off my vaio?

is this even possible because i have a mac and pc and not a mac and a mac or a pc and pc?

any help would be greatly appreciated

can you tell me benefits of streaming your audio off the vaio versus external hard disk ?

why go thru troulbe of setting up shared network, when you can simply plug in your external hdd and be done ?

i got my 2500 hooked up to 2 PC's

my main DAW where i dump the beats for further processing and a PC for just VST's with VStack for adding sounds from the VST's

one of the main reasons i wanted to use two computers is so i can cut up samples in soundforge on my vaio then after their chopped, i can send them to my mac cause soundforge doesnt work on mac computers, i was thinking of downloading adaucity but i tried it once and the workflow is way better on soundforge!

then if i did download adaucity im pretty sure i would have to import the samples to my mac via hard drive and then chop them and then export them again wouldent i?

and that would take more time than just cutting up the samples on my pc and then streaming them over to my mac.
