eq

have a quick question
i cant afford to get my unit expanded so i wondered if it is good or
rather ok practice to EQ my sound whilst sampling/resampling and then i
can have my track all "mushed" together?

also i note that i saw a tutorial saying to boost the kick drum at 80hz
is there an amount that this should be done by in db?
and what q setting would you use? wide? narrow?

if you wana get more bass out of your kick, use a shelving eq and boost the low end, its wide q.

think of it like a hill -\_ <--- looks like that except the first dash is supposed to be at the same level as the \ (backslash). and the _ part is the flat frequency resoponse level.

what i mean is basically to eq it at the mpc stage so i can get a beat going that bangs and record it strait outta the 2 outs all together

theres no right and wrong way if the end comes out how you intended. if u cant track it out and eq it, then your only alternative is to do it in the MPC as you said. when u can get it tracked out, then just switch to eq'ing it after. no harm done.

just remember the eq in the mpc isnt as good as a software/hardware soluction but if its all you got then use it.

i have a sound desk so can tweek that, when i get some cash together will grab the 8 outs.
