Whats up everyone...just got a used MPC 2000XL a couple of days ago. I figured out the basics (sampling, chopping and programming pads) pretty easily and have been having a lot of fun with that.

Unfortunately, I realized the hard way that it does not automatically save the samples you program. its not a big deal though because I just got started and didn't really have anything worth keeping.

Anyway, the problem is, although I figured out where you need to save things (by hitting shift/load) it will not let me save (it says Not Ready).

I got this MPC used and it did not come with a manual (which wasn't promised)...I remember the Ebay page saying something about how it was upgraded to 32 MB or something but I'm not entirely sure what that means in an MPC context. My MPC also came with what looks like a harddrive and a weird multiwired thing with two rectangular ends but there doesn't seem to be a way to connect the two to my MPC. I want to know If theres any setting that I need it to be on (there seems to be a bunch- Atapi, the flash option, etc) or if I have to do some manual work to connect the harddrive.

If anyone could help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it.

thanks in advance.

Well does that mpc have a floppy drive installed in it?(internal) If so then try putting a blank floppy disk in the drive. Also you may want to contact the seller for info on the included drives that were shipped. But in the mean time download the manual below. It should take care of you. Also check my blog out for a mpc2000xl website with tons of great info.

thanks...i appreciate that advice...I just got an email back from the dude I bought it from and I didnt even realize you could take the memory card from a digital camera and save on the mpc with that. So I just tried that and it worked...all the extra hardware was just stuff he had previously used.
Once again, I appreciate it...thanks.
