Hey, I had a question about using the MPC's sequencer. Sorry if this is a dumb question but to my knowledge the MPC records at 16 bit. I use the MPC to sequence all of my beats. If I wanted to record at 24 bit I would not be able to using the MPC, correct? I record onto Sonar and about half of the contents of my beats are samples from the MPC and the other are Soft Synths from Dimension Pro. So correct me if I'm wrong, when I track out my beats from the MPC onto Sonar they are in 16 Bit? Thanks for any reply's

Thanks 7 1 4 Beats, so when people are sampling with the MPC they are never going to be able to get 24 bit quality out of it. I know alot of people prefer the grime of 16 and 12 bit. So why is there all this talk about 24 bit is the only way to go! Am I missing somthing here?

Ok, I got ya. So let me ask you this, is it a good idea to export a 16 bit project to 24 bits if you plan on getting it mastered by a mastering engineer? In terms of more headroom and such? Or since it was originally in 16 bit will it even matter?

Mixing is my specialty!
Thanks for all the helpful info. I really appreciate it

And what was the question about the sequencer now?

Ok, I have another question, I am still trying to figure this all out. I will try my best to explain. I have drum samples loaded up on my MPC playing a beat. I am then using the Triton as a MIDI controller to play softsynths, and to record the MIDI softsynths onto the MPC's sequencer. So when I track the beat out to Sonar I have audio tracks set up for the drums on the MPC, and I have midi tracks set up for the softsynths. Once my beat is all tracked out, are my Dimension Pro softsynths which are originally in 24bit, in 16bit when I track them into Sonar? I have to have Sonar in 16 bit to be able to play the 16bit recording of my sampled drums. If I switch to 24bit, it gives me a "cannot play audio device" message. I am thinking there has got to be a way to have my 16bit drums, play along side 24bit softsynths. If I tracked out my drum tracks in 16bit mode in Sonar then opened another Sonar window in a 24bit mode, tracked out the rest of the softsynths, and be able to put them together?

Ok, I figured it out. But there was one other thing I wanted to bring up. When I was trying to set the bitrate at 24 I had the samplerate at 48 which is why the cannot play audio device message came up in Sonar. So I put it at 44.1 so the MPC could play it, duh... and I was able to switch the settings in Sonar for all of my projects,(unrecorded projects) to 24bit.
Which means 16bit MPC drums ,24bit Softsynths and vocals, and everything gets recorded at 24bit. The only thing that gets 8 zero padding is the drums, and an occasional bassline sample.
