hey so iv got my sequence down... and everything is good and I'm trying to save the file onto my computer. when i save it was .MID but it takes all my data off. when i save it was .SEQ its strait its just the fact i don't know how to open a .SEQ file on the computer... iv looked in the manual and its not really telling me anything bout opening it on the computer

It's just a midi file so you can open it with any software sequencer like ableton live or cubase.

SEQ is Akai only. MID is universal.

There are 2 types of midi files:

A MIDI sound file that contains MIDI messages. MIDI files .MID extension.

Type 0 files store all tracks in one track chunk.

Type 1 files use a separate chunk for each track, with the first chunk storing the tempo.

Type 0 files use less memory and run faster than type 1.

Thus, original MIDI music is maintained in type 1 format and frequently distributed in type 0.

MIDI files distributed for editing are usually in type 1 format, since it is difficult to convert from type 0 to type 1 using a MIDI sequencer.

wait so if .SEQ can only be read by akai then i dont need cubase or any other program since they cant read it... so how is it possibe for me to add the sequence to my computer if .MID changes the song and .SEQ cant be read by the computer

Read the whole thing and not only what you want to read.

Try MID with any other sequencer, understand that. Now go try it.
