Can't hear drums

Alright well I have followed the post above in making the MPC master to my Digi 003. I can't seem to get the sound to come out of my speakers. I can see the meter in the Midi Track in Protools light up, but I can't seem to get the sound to route to my monitors. Also, when I hit rec play/start on the MPC I can't get the transport to start when I do this. Can someone help me with diagnosing the problem.

For the MPC to control the transport on PT you have to have an MPC able to send either MMC or MTC. - But you didn't say which MPC you have, so I can't tell you more than that....

I know midi is not audio. I have balanced cables going into the inputs of my digi003 rack from my MPC4000. I have cables going from my digi003 rack main out going into my monitors.

Hey guys. I need serious help. I can't figure this out for the life of me. I know that midi is not audio and that it is just signals going out of the MPC into Protools. The thing is that when I hit Rec+Play on the MPC the transport in protools activates and records. Now when I set up an audio track to record the midi it records, but I don't hear it when I play it back. What am I doing wrong. I have the Audio track input set to receive Midi from All channels on the MPC and have the track output go to the MPC Channel 1.

I'm confused about what you're trying to do. You have the mpc as master, and you are recording midi from your mpc to a midi track in protools. So when you have finished recording you have a midi track on protools that contains whatever you sent from the mpc, and now where are you trying to send this midi data to? Are you trying to fire some plugin like Battery and then record that?

I haven never used protools, but I don't understand what you mean when you say that you have an audio track set to receive midi on all channels. Audio tracks can't receive midi, but they can receive audio that was generated from a midi track that fired some midi device or plugin.

I have changed my setup a little bit. I have made my MPC the slave to Protools. I currently am recording midi events in protools from the MPC. So I have the input set to receive midi from the MPC on the track and I can't hear anything when I do this. I know midi is not audio, but do I need to route the midi back into the MIDI in of the MPC?

So should I sequence everything in the MPC and when I am ready, create all of my tracks in protools and assign the outs in the MPC to go to the specific channel for the track in protools. Then I can just hit rec+play in protools and that should trigger the sequencer in the MPC to play which records everything in protools? I am trying to wrap my head around this. Any insight would be great.

Then I can just hit rec+play in protools
Set up midi for the triggering you speak of.
Setup mpc audio out to audio interface to hotools in for recording audio

and that should trigger the sequencer in the MPC to play which records everything in protools?
mpc to trigger hotools = mpc master
hotools to trigger mpc = hotolls master

Hey lamp, I am using protools as the master and the mpc as slave. So why can't i hear the sample which I have loaded onto a pad play when I am only on the mpc?

i think you need to find and hit to monitor button on your 003.

I can hear the metronome from the 003 rack play when I hit record, so its not an issue of hearing sounds. I just don't know why I can't hear anything from the MPC.
