Reliability?

I keep reading about folks mpc's breaking on them. Are any models made better than others? I don't want to drop a k on a mpc to have it break on me a month later.

Just make sure you meet the required specifications, and maintain it by keeping dust and other stuff off it. Its not that MPC's just break it all depends on how the owners treat them....

my mpc has lasted for years. and I bought it used. AND I even modded it a bit. and its still as great as it was when I bought it back in 04.

Ok, I will step out here (as obviously nobody else wants to ) and say, every MPC after the 2000XL is built considerably lower quality - software and hardware-wise. The worst hardware-wise are the 1000s.

+1 on the build quality. i bought a brand new i mean fresh out the box mpc 1000 about two years ago and that damn thing had two broken pads i returned that thing the next day and the one i have now hasnt given me a problem since.
