Hello All,

I'm new to the MPC world and I have a few questions. First off, this is what I have: Motif es7, 2 numark tt-200's, numark mixer dm3002x, protools w/ mbox2, and the MPC-1000. I just got my MPC-1000 and I'm running into a few issues. ( I ordered the Making beats with the MPC-1000 also, and I can't figure out how to get the samples that come with it from what I understood) I tried sampling an ablum and it programmed the one sample to all 16 pads in bank A. I followed the directions to slice to 16 and I couldn't get that to work properly. I'm sure with a lot more practice I'll get it down. I tried saving what i had so far and it gives me an error message saying insufficient memory. (when I turn it on it say 16MB) I then tried connecting the MPC to my computer so that I can save whatever samples I make to my computers hd but or the mpc and I get a message saying that it was unable to format. Also, this error message won't go away "Please do not remove the usb connection until the drive icon is removed on PC." I know I'm doing probably everything wrong can I get some help on this one? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Can someone also explain a bit about using memory? I want to load all of my samples onto my external hd that is connected to my computer. should that be connected to the mpc instead? I'm getting all confused now. I think I'm just on overload today.

It sounds like you're trying to do way too much at once.

Read that manual, man. It's all right there for you to learn.

Focus on learning how to use the MPC first, then start worrying about interfacing that with your computer.

ok as far as the beat making guide i cant help you.

as far as ram goes you need to upgrade it to 128mb (there is a sticky that explains everything in the 1000 forum).
you wont be able to save directly from the mpc to the computer, you need to insert a compact flash card or internal hard drive on your mpc save it to there, then connect the mpc to the computer and drag and drop from your computer. on your comp it will load as an external drive, it is wise not to disconnect your mpc usb wise until you have ejected the drive on your computer (this could cause corruption on your files).

and def read the manual it is your best friend.
