Whats up everybody! Just stumbled onto this forum and think its amazing! I hope to get some answers with this post as their seems to be vast knowledge among alot of the members here.

Right now I use Battery 3, MPD24, and Pro tools 7.4 as my sequencer. I'm using Elastic Audio in Protools to chop up my samples. I then have to bounce the files and then load them into Battery's cells.

My whole goal is to emulate the MPC w/ out having to buy one. My drum tracks are fine. But I feel like when it comes to slicing the sample I get from a particular record to add to the drum track, this is where it gets tricky. I really like the way the MPC(1000 and others) can take a sample and chop it into 16 pieces.

I'm relatively new to producing in this style(dilla, pete rock type ish). Am I on the right track with using what I got or would you get an MPC1000 and start getting to work on that?

Any opinions or input on this is greatly appreciated!! :D
