DOES ANYNE HERE ACTUALLY PREFER SOFTWARE?

as the title states, we all love our mpc's but does anyone prefer a software setup instead, the ease of new technology works so well, but it feels so wrong

only prefer software as a multi track recorder, i like being able to visualize my tracks and see the wav forms etc.

i own one soft instrument (motu ethno) and dont use the soft synths etc. that are included in Logic. i prefer hardware when it comes to making beats.

I prefer the work flow on hardware. I make all my beats on the mpc; including all the tracks, sequences and song. Then I track into Logic and fine tune/add soft synths/additional effects if/as needed.

I fussed around with Reason and a midi controller for several months and didn't make a fraction of what I made with the MPC in only a few weeks... to me, getting off of the computer and on the MPC allows me to focus on the music and be creative as opposed to being interrupted by e-mail, instant messages or porn. heh.

Most def hardware! Drivers?!? WTF is that?!? I want to play a piano not install drivers!!! Get outta here with that shit!!! Although Good music can be made with just a pc. Just not by me.

I had a 2500 but I now prefer software. Much more flexible and you bypass the middleman (mpc). Tracking out shit can be a pain. The only thing i miss about the MPC was the fact that you dont have to midi map...which is also a pain.

i actually began beatmaking on software(reason), it was good, i made some bangers on their, i moved to a 500(that didnt work out so well), and now a 1000, i still use reason every now and then. i personally dont hate on anyone, as long as the end product comes out hot, what software do you use btw, im thinking of getting into Logic(because reason doesnt support any VSTs)

on a side note im kind of at odds, i started this thread for inspiration, ive been contemplating going completely soft(ware) no homo lol. as time passes all of this gear is becoming unnecessary, as you pointed out they hated on drum machines, and these drum machines became what made the music what it is, i would like to be apart of the new wave of production that relies on strictly software. 5 to 10 years from now the hardware may be really rare or obsolete..

That is crazy talk! Hardware! Obsolete!?! NEVER! I suppose you believe guitar modeling software will replace the guitar also? No need for good singers either because of melodyne? Microphone manufacturers out of business because there are no more instruments to record?

they are for new jacks and lazy people.
but then, i also think many modern synths/keyboards are just for new jacks and lazy people.

but, it doesn't matters what you use to make your music.

as a multitrack recorder, software is great. working with reel-to-reel was hell. tape still sounds better than digital. but it's too hard to use. so, im taking the lazy path for recording.

I just got a Mac and have been playing with Gargeband, but I keep coming back to my MPC.... So far nothing is as user friendly. But I have only been in this for 6 months.

i am talking a bout as far as Hip hop production(beatmaking) goes, i am not pertaining to any live instruments, jus keyboard synths, drum machines and what not, that are commonly used for hip hop production

There's alot of animosity toward strictly software producers. i think they are jealous.
