hello
ive recently purchased an mpc1000 and i have a cf 512 card. ive managed to get some wav samples onto the card. each sample is between 6 and 12mb

what i find strange is that when i try to load any sample bigger than 6mb it says insufficient memory. when i choose the mode - program options i cannot see any samples so i thought i didnt have any samples loaded. i thought i had cleared everything.

I dont have the 128mb expansion pack yet - but is that correct - will i not be able to load a sample bigger than 6mb and assign it to a pad.

can i run the samples straight from the cf card ? i have an mpc1000 with jjos and would appreciate any help with this.

thanks very much
mark

check the sample format - the mpc only reads 16bit/44khz samples.
also try to avoid long file names, try to use eight characters or max 12.
you can see how much sample ram is left in the load screen.
maybe there is something set to autoload an that eats up all the space.

and if it is a specific problem with the jj os you might get better answers in the jj os forum.

peace jo

thanks very much selecta jo - the thing is that when i press 'play' the sample plays fine, so im not sure the format or filename is bad (i thought this as well at first)
even as a beginner - i get the feeling that there isn't enough spare internal memory in my mpc - even though i thought i had cleared all the other samples- hence my question about running the sample straight from the cf card - which i think may not be possible now.
thanks

hi mark,

you're getting memory confused with RAM.

when you press 'play' in the LOAD page, you're just auditioning the sample.
here it will play directly from CF (i think --- anyone? probably something
slightly more complex than that going on here, but it doesn't matter right now)

you have to load samples from your memory (CF or HD) to your RAM (comes with
16Mb, expandable to 128Mb)

you can't play samples in sequences from the CF, only from RAM.

does that make sense?
