Turntable + Records or sample cd's?

Ok here it is. My dad has a crapload of records out in the garage but the problem is I don't have a turntable which is very lame. Since I'm not sure whether or not I'm going to get paid on this beat I just finished and I'm low on money, I was thinking maybe I should just buy a cd with records hand picked and put on cd. Should I do this or be patient and wait to see if I get paid so I can get a turntable?

Don't know if this is the right section for this, but... If I were you, I'd at least wait to see what the situation is with your money.

On second thought, even if you don't get the cash for your beat, stick it out and save and buy a table anyway.

I'd recommend trying to pick up a cheap turntable. You should be able to find one for $15 or something. You don't need a technics to sample a vinyl. And the thing that's cool about your dad's records is that not as many people have them or have heard of them (compared to stuff you find on cds). So you should be able to find some cooler, unique samples. Its easier to search for samples with a turntable, just picking up and dropping the needle. The samples have that soft vinyl crackle on top of them. And plus you get props from the old school hip hop community.

Rummage though garage sales, scour craigslist.org, be nice not naughty, Christmas is coming up.
