not necessarily in oakland, but up the road in berkely the amoeba and rasputin are right next to each other, and both have pretty big used-record sections. just the fact that they are so close to each other makes the diggin opportunities pretty good.

california is great for legit record stores having super-cheap, good quality used stuff.

the rasputin in mountain view (caltrain could get you there) has (had) like a whole room of dollar-bin type stuff.

my experience with those stores is that they change A LOT, so it might be different, but i always came out of a trip to berkely with STACKS of wax and never spent a lot of money.

the amoeba in san francisco is also something of an icon.

i mean seriously, the consumerism shrapnel in california is the cream of the crop.
