A Good Place To Source Records

Currently I'm doing charity work at a Salvation Army shop, I started yesterday. I was shocked to see the amount of vinyl that are in the stores not on show, literally box loads of it and they have deliveries daily. I've seen some in there that go for £8-£12 in a vinyl shop.

When I'm released from prison I'm thinking of doing 2-3 hours, 3 days a week in 3 different charity shops because most of the stuff they don't sell they will let you have. Free vinyl

So, if you're up for working for a free a few hours a week you could get a nice supply of samples Just an idea for folks out there.

Yeah that is a nice idea but as its for charity i'd be inclined to still give some cash to them.
50p a record is a good price I reckon.


On a side note, Oxfam must think they're a record store the prices they charge. I see a lot of records priced up at £5 onwards!!!

When I lived in England, I helped out also at local charity shops around my village at Oxfam, British Heart Foundation, British Red Cross and Cancer Research UK.
I basically worked 3-4 hours for free but got paid in records.

Good point, but saying that you are working for free and they don't mind giving you stuff they cant sell. A couple quid a crate wont break the bank though.

Oxfam! They have records on sale even if they know they aren't going to sell them. I believe oxfam only donate the minimum required to charity, which is about 28% of earnings by law. So they bascially run a full profit business except they pay for limited amount of stock.

I didn't know that. You mean to tell me they worked me like a slave to turn a profit? Those Bastards!!!!

Yeah. Details on how much a chairty shop have to donate is on the HMRC site. Last time I looked it was 28%. Bethal (Another chairty shop) do the same, they own building companies and everything.
