drum sounds on mpc 2000xl

Okay, When producing on the mpc 2000xl, do you search for different drum- kicks, snares, claps every time, or do you have certain drums on a disk that you use for every track, but just switch them up a bit?

Depends. Sometimes I'll take a snare and kick of a record even though theres like words on top of them. When you do the pattern it sounds real cool cause your making your own little vocal and instrument stabs with each beat. Other times I'll use the same sounds. But I'll try to make so that you can't tell by layering them with other sounds, filtering them differently, or tuning them up or down.
