When Digging...

When I'm diggin' not only am I looking for samples, but I listen for songs that are grooving and that I'd like to listen to. Just curious on what you guys listen for. What can I say... I'm a music lover.

True it's always a bonus if its something you'd listen to in its entirety, but the beauty of sampling is taking a diamond out of a pile of rubble. However as I said in a different post, recently I've only been sampling from records I bought years ago for DJing so It's been good *listening* to them as well.

I like peepin the Sample in context to the rest of the song it came from.
Some $h1T sound wack until it gets to the Magical part, The Break...or Bassline....or Trumpet blast... or Sax line....etc.

I was a collector before a sample digger so I guess I'm down for both.

No, scratch that, I am down for both.

The thing about it is no matter which side of the fence i'm sittin on I can count on being surprised. A record that I may only want to listen to will prob. have samples on it, and one I get for sampling may actually have a listenable track on it.
