Turntable Help...

I'm posting this in two forums cause I am not sure which it fits under but I need some help with my turntable. I went to use it today and out of the blue it just didn't work. I can somewhat hear something being played but definately not from my monitors and definately not loud enough to really even call it something. Any help would be great...I notice a wire from the cartridge needle thing on the end was loose so I put that back on but it did nothing...Any ideas?

Turntable to mixer, then mixer to MPC player

sup did you flick the phono switch on ur mixer to line ??

I got it fixed already...but why would I switch it to line?
