Digging in Paris?

I'm about to be in Paris for a little bit. I've been there many times, but I've never had time to go digging there. I think I might have a chance this time, but I have no idea where to go.
Any suggestions?

I'm going to england next year so this thread will be pretty helpful to me also. Maybe....

I've been there a handful of times in the last couple years, and I haven't had any problems. If you at least *attempt* to speak a little French, it is much appreciated, and people will be cool to you. If you go around trying to speak English to everyone as if it's America, that is not appreciated by most people there.
Obviously, it helps to know some locals, which I do.
I admit, it's not my favorite city in the world....but I don't hate it.

stores is pretty dead.
Conventions is the thing, make sure to be there when some are on

If you go around trying to speak English to everyone as if it's America, that is not appreciated by most people there.

true. i attempted to speak some french...and that went nowhere. when i was in spain i had alot more fun (i speak spanish pretty well in the company of spanish speakers)

That's a coincidence; I'm still in Paris, but headed today to Spain to play the Sonar Festival (all electronic/hiphop music fest) I'm gonna do my best to speak a little Spanish that I still remember from high school classes. Hopefully, I'll be able to catch sets from De La Soul, Cut Chemist, Edan & Insight, and others who are playing at the festival. Que bueno.

for instance ) forget about it : this record are amazingly expensive !!!
( loads of french hip hop artists find their samples in that kind
of records!! )

If you're looking for 2nd hand stuff except 60s/70s french pop
then you might go to the flea market ...
( location : Porte de clignancourt / open saturday & sunday )

To find french Hip hop, walk around Les Halles .... it's the heart
of the parisian hip hop scene. ( at least 4 record stores outside of
les Halles )

and on top of it all my personnal favourites :

-2nd hand stuff :

Thanks man, but this is coming in a little late. I just got back home. Didn't find any vinyl in Paris. Only thing I bought was the Don Blackman album on CD which I can't find around here.
Barcelona kicked my ass though. Now THAT'S a city I can get with. They stay up til like 6am partying there. Tons of beautiful girls too. Got to see Edan & Insight, De La Soul w/ Kanye West, DJ Yoda, and Cut Chemist at the Sonar Festival. I'm crazy tired though, and need to sleep for like a week.

spain is where its at.

Party till 6 am, great for my mum. The clubs I go to open at 6am sunday and close at 7pm. And some clubs open at 7pm sundays for those who are still awake, but that's too much for me, I will be 50 soon. E mail me next time you are in Paris and I share my tips to go record shopping. Cheers. Jean
