it helps you to understand how people go about choosing samples or chopping/flipping them. Buying them is one thing...If I find this dope gangstarr loop in the dollarbin..why not grab it??? I ain't the one bidding 70 bucks on some record that has nothing else on it just to be like "yo look, this was sampled by primo" :roll:

some people jsut overdo it

i have to admit i was into this when i first got back into digging just because the records being sampled at that time by the likes of large pro, pete rock, prince paul were really ill and wrth checking out. nowadays its more like coincidence for me to find something that someone else has sampled, already in my crates. i tend to avoid these records as far as sampling is concerned but like dude said its interesting to see how producers you respect flipped a certain record.

put a local n*gga up on yo' spot heh heh heh

pm me - i'll come outta there w/some heat TRUST

and im not as deep as yall but i kno how to find records and even if somthin' is mediocre i can flip it to sound ILL

thats alot of what this - and hip hop in general is about - learning how to make something out of nothing........

i have come to believe a good beatmaker can make an ill beat w/any type of records.........pete or primo or rza or paul can come into my lab and make the bangers......so i think its more about the "magician" and less about the "wand" u dig?

word preach on brtha killer joe preach on,

i love to buy records that have been sampled because theres great music on there not just the sampled tune, and yeah like said above learn to flip and chop don't use the same sample they did ;

theres other stuff on there, most of the stuff i've been finding lately is all sampl'd but there's great muisc on the rest of the album:

LED ZEPPlin -when the levee breaks(beastie boy's sampled that but look on the rest of the album you'll find ROCK AND ROLL.STAIRWAY TO HEAVENMISTY MOUTAIN HOP all great song;s by jimmy page and robert plant, but i was raised on the radio so those songs bring back momery's,
but i also buy stuff that i've never heard b4 but it has artist from some of the bands i know.

but 4000 i want to go to nyc some time in my life thats been a dream of mine to go out there and buy records is it rare to find classics likejazzy sensation, triple threat, motor city crew old bam stuff, i'm sure it is huh!

So folks use other's finds as a headstart... to see who originally created that sound, and then look for those same musicians? OK.

I guess I do the same, but I don't dig for the sake of sampling. I've never sampled anything. But I do look for certain musicians that have delivered on other records that I like.

Daft? I thought I was simply asking a question. Just curious as to why someone would look for samples that have been used. Thanks!
