I really enjoy sampleing old movies. Somtimes when I am feeling creative I will take a movie that I thought was really sweet, and turn it into a song. Anybody else ever done anything like this? What are some good movies that have provided unique and interesting samples? I personaly enjoy takeing sounds from old Sci-fi.

My favorite movies to sample are usually spaghetti westerns from the 60s (clint eastwood stuff esp.).. Big fan of Hitchcock, 70s Horror flicks, so on so forth.

I have so many osts on vinyl, its nuts. I love buying osts of movies I've never heard of. Then bringing it home, regardless, flicks are great. John Williams is usually cool. TV show soundtracks are a must as well.

Just picked up Clockwork Orange mint on vinyl for 1 buck. Probably my favorite soundtrack of all time (loved the movie and the book).

I also sample straight from my cable box's digital out. That mixed with a DVR can be deadly (I've already burned my last DVR out).

do this all the time, i cant create abeat sometimes if i dont have an intro
i sample all movies,OLD and NEW check out some of the songs on myspace see if you can figure them out.

now i cant tell you what movies cause then it wontbe diggin right.
just as you dig for vinyl you need to dig for movies, i got a pretty nice collection of movies to sample from.

YEAH LOTS OF MOVIES CONTAIN GREAT SAMPLES AND NOT JUSTTHE OST OFTEN THE ACTUAL MOVIE BACKGROUND WILL CONTAIN KOOL FX..................PASSAGES, DIALOGUE ETC.............

My favs are hippie movies from like the 60's. War movies from this time period are cool too, a lot of sharp hits that sound good slowed down. Old French movies also have some good sounds.
