From Scratch

I already have the digital option with the xponent and I have plenty of plug ins for pro tools so the effects are not a big factor, I can add them after the fact or use the xponent.

So in conclusion I think I need a mixer and a turn table(I can get the 2nd TT later if need be I just really want to get started with scratching and sampling first) I have heard across the board that technics are the way to go on TT's.

So which model technic to buy?
What kind of mixer to buy?
How do I get my scratches/audio into pro tools?
AM i forgetting anything obvious?

First thing's first, just because you get the proper gear does't mean you'll be scratching properly. Even basic techniques like the ones I mentioned before take a lot of practice to get right. So you should really discipline yourself to practice at least an hour every day.
Concerning the equipment I personally recommend getting one Technics 1200 turntable in good condition and in your case just some basic 2 channel mixer( preferably from the following brands: Vestax, Stanton or Numark).
This all really depends on how serious you are about getting in to scratching and if you plan on mixing and dj'ing.

Yeah and the TT acts like any other instrument when lining in to Pro Tools. Plug it into your soundcard.

One Technic and a decent but basic mixer is probably best. Be sure you're getting a working one, I know a couple of people who got faulty Technics off of eBay because a lot of them are really old.

beat mixing allows you to understand the rhythmic nature of scratching

no amount of money nor equipment can give you dedication and skill

these are gifts acquired from yrs of hard work

hours upon hours of failure b4 being barely decent

this knowledge is not found on youtube or in a forum

I obviously realize I am not going to be Premier in a week or two (most likely never!) but I am asking for help so I can avoid common mistakes, and more importantly get big money decisions right the first time. I realize its a long road but I gotta start somewhere! and no one around me has the knowledge on djing the people here do so be easy guys I'm just asking lol
