i had to post this here so my vinyl heads can appreciate this....

friday i was apart of hiphop history kool herc played in san francisco at the DNA lounge i made the trip out to see and hear this man thats the father of hiphop, i realized why!! this man rocked the party.

this was his first time ever in san francisco and he turn'd it out ,he had like an hour set with some ill ass classic breaks on 45's(7") .then went into some modern hiphop music but not stuff you would hear on top fourty radio but i dont listen to radio so i wouldnt kno, it all sounded new to me.

this party was for a release of a book by jeff chang and kool herc wrote the opening chapter, it's called "can't stop wont stop" it's a hard back book 545 pages, havent read it yet but i cant wait.

any ways he signed my book and i gave him props for what he's done.
given us this culture of hiphop he told me to stay positive and he shook my hand he's the nicest guy. inbetween records he was talkin and signing autographs amd being on the mic deffinetly was a great show reall hyped me up and rejuvinated my hiphop spirit, in a time when real hiphop seems to be taken over by what the new generation considers real hiphop.

he never recorded anything he just dj'd you dont get royality for that beside when ever you of who started hiphop he the first name if you studied your roots of the culture.
he's rich with knowledge anyways i'm sure

the footage of kool herc (from 1973) in that FREESTYLE documentary is ill!

this was his first time ever in san francisco

I heard that even though he has been coming over to Europe to DJ over the past 10 years ...... even playing at big stadium shows with The Chemical Brothers, back home in NY he was just working in a boat yard.

he has more fame in Europe then he does in the states,
thats ashame that the place where he's from(USA) doesnt even acknowledge what he did for the youth.

I know who Herc is. I was quoting from a song. But he is a founder or the founder of an art form and industry that is a money making machine and he has no monetary compensation to show for it.
