Talk and share knowledge on rare records, sources of new samples, vinyl, diggin, etc

There are sooo many record shops in LA, I'm just wondering if anyone here has a better understanding of the scene than I do. I live in SoCal, about an hour outside of LA and have destroyed all of the local record shops.

Anyone here with some tips for great LA vinyl stores - I'm looking for a wide selection of cheap-ish records - they don't gotta be outta the dollar bin, but I am trying to digg for some unique finds.

Thanks in advance,
big up to anyone who can help.

here's a good site with directories by state.

http://www.recordcollectorsguild.org/

just click on united states or international under the record store locator heading on the left sidebar on the main page. there's also some other good resources like forums and shit ive even found a link to record show dates and events.

That's a nice like E.D.E.. I'm in Alabama and I do most of my digging at thrift stores and pawn shops. I'm gonna check out a few of these spots.

Like in most cities, the best budget digging is at the flea markets and the thrift stores. Go to the Rose Bowl, BP, or Pasadena fleas you are almost guaranteed to come up on some finds (not always bargain bin prices though). The key has always been to get there early 8)

Ya Sac is a cool place.. took me long to find some good cheeba tho

i dont remember the names at all man sorry, i was just there for a bit less than a week, but downtown theres all types of sh!t...
there was this one place, i think it was called arrons records.. or that mighta been in LA..

whatever it was, it was a chain record store that mostly specialized in CD's but in the back there was a few rows of records, alot of them unpriced..
i got some insane deals there.

i feel kinda bad about it now, but on some of the expensive records i found.. i would peel the price tag off, then the girl at the counter would just price it as like a buck or two cuz they dont know sh!t about them

i carried two crates of records home on the train by myself on that trip

what up, you been out there? thats been one of the better spots in SB. that dude hates rap with a passion so i always find steals on the classic 12"s. not a bad place for soul/jazz either, my boy found a T. Alvon "S.C.P." 45 out there, this was awhile back though. Last few times Ive seen a lot more diggers in there, which definitely aint a good thing...

but SB and IV seem to have records everywhere...and its a nice town to visit anyway.
