Jay Love Japan

I was just wondering if anyone knows much about Jay Love Japan on vinyl ? I found a copy the other day, It says promo only on it. But I'm not sure if it's any original or if its a reissue. Any info would be cool thanks.

It's promo copy. It leaked on the net early so now the whole album is changing and the name is gonna be something else. Basically you should buy it!

Cool thanks, I don't understand who'd want to change the name etc I think the album is a work of art in it's current state.

if it' say's promo it must have only a few copy's of it.usually only radio and club dj's get those copy's so i would say it's an OG,
now as far as changing the name and sh!t like that...i dont know ,why would they spend so much money then decide to change it .

I don't know what's in the States, but I'm actually in Japan now and I've seen those 'promo only' joints in full stock in at least three different stores- it's like an official release.

Everything surrounding this album seems screwy to me. I heard it was originally supposed to be an instrumental joint. Is it true Operation Unknown (the label releasing it) added all the vocalists after Jay passed? I really don't like the idea of people messing around with something that was supposedly already completed.

Who's got some real answers on this?

Student whatever you heard is not true that's not what happen it leaked early so they changed the album and pulled cause they are gonna release the DVD with the new version of Jay Loves Japan.

I had this thing downloaded about 3 months ago and had me wondered what the hell was all about. Now I know...

I listened to the record last night and it's extactly the same playlist as the one I got when my friends downloaded it a yr or so ago.
All thats on the actual record graphic wise is the same as cd cover the numbers are JLJ001a and JLJ001b on either side.

It's on iTunes. The sound quality's not so great and the tracklisting is out of order...

i got it also in nz on vinyl "promo",
and seen it still floating round seemingly plentiful in copies.
tis a wierd release, ive seen it advertised on the net with different teack list altogethor.
was more than happy to add it to my collection, even tho the tracks vary big time in volume, it is a fine piece of work

Just clear a couple things up. Operation Unknown has not released an official version of the album. Not even a promo. The only so-called official version is the one available on iTunes. From what I heard from sources close to Dilla's family is that they were having sample clearance issues. The vinyl and cd versions you see floating around on the net and in some stores are actually bootlegs. They are not official Operation Unknown releases. If you ask me Operation Unknown is a terrible label. They way they've done this release has ruined everything about how special it was supposed to be. But you can definitely be on the lookout for the MCA album in the near future.

I guess I should hang on to a spare copy then, the volume level on mine seemed to be fine last time I listened to it. I might chuck it on when I get home from work and have another listen thou.

i just got bak from san fran and i can see we aint as well of as those lucky folk.
most shops in and around wellington are highly priced now, i rarely score a gem cheaply anymore

Your high if you didn't find cheap records in San Fran there is so many places there it's not even funny.
