I'm cool with this as long as the art and culture of digging for vinyl is respected. People can sample whatever they like, I'm just trying to make sure that vinyl culture stays alive within the hip hip world...

As for major players using mp3's - I recently caught a couple of pieces from K-Kut's (of Main Source's) record collection. I'm sure many golden age producers are selling off some of their vinyl, but I will always prefer the real thing over a digital copy - if I have the choice...

cool max bootleg was mostly vinly maybe the odd mp3, cant always remember as i tend to sample a bunch of shit from various sources and leave the sounds in the sampler for a month and see how many beat i can make from those sounds.

im getting me a stanton t90, i was gonna get it this week but the record store that was 4 blocks away from me closed due to bad business AFTER ALL THIS TIME smh, exact day I say im going to go in there the store closed lmao
so I guess I gotta go to goodwill and get them 2nd hand vinyls then ;S

mmm..I think that it depends very much on what it actually is you're sampling.

mp3's 'edit' out what is 'unnecessary'-of course its not that its unnecessary at all,its that it's not the 'meat' of the sound...what Mr mp3 thinks you won't notice if its gone.

That means its going to be lacking in the very top end and also lacking in the very bottom.

Also mp3's don't deal with the transients as well-ie:the punch,plus the fact that on shitty low quality one's the artifacts are very apparent.

You can't be having you're main kicks/snare's or bass sourced off of mp3....but everything else-use your ears...and listen to your conscience..
