yeah, that is the berwick store - im surprised they went there of all places, the basement is actually pretty bad for digging - it looks great at first glance, but 95% of the basement stock is 90's club music.
the notting hill gate music exchanges are great, the upstairs and basements there have a much wider range of styles, and just as cheap - i could spend a day there easy.
if youre ever in the stoke newington area (sorry if this is giving away anyones secret spot) theres a shop that used to sell books and records in the back, i heard now it just sells records. Last time i went, they had a really good range and wasnt too pricey - with interesting stuff in the bargain bin. Sorry I dont have a name or adress for the place, Its down a road off the high stret kind of near stoke newington train station. And whilst youre in that area, Oxfam books and music near dalston kingsland tube is worth a punt.
Im not really that into the soho stores, although i spent enough money in them when i worked in the area for 2 years! its all a little expensive, but the bargain bin in one of the ones on berwick can be great - theyre allways churing out sleeveless records for a pound (stuff that would otherwise be £10+) if you can catch them on the day that stuff goes out youre laughing.
about rough trade... i dont know about any others but the one in east london by dray walk is shit. Its all re-presses and no bargains - no second hand. theres another independent near there though - in the spitalfields area.. i think its nudge - thats ok, but it seems mostly good for reggae and a little pricey.
if youre ever in islington, check out haggle, theres a couple of days woth of records to look through - a lot of the wax there is stacked vertically under the racks though - which cant be good for it! but theres some bargains amongst there.
lots of charity shops in golders green too if i remember correctly (unusually cheap prices) - i had a bit of luck there.
