i have thought about switching over to sampling primarily off of cds. Because nowadays alot of people release demos and any little thing they do on cd because it is so cheap, this means there is alot of samples out there that you would never have to get cleared and no one would ever recognize. I get frusterated sometimes when i find a sample and there is a big pop right in the middle of it.

thats tru but then u got seek and fast forward and rewind to give u a nice headache. I like vinyl cause i the "seek" is throwin the needle down whereever.

Now if you're talkin about samplin a Dr. Dre CD for drums... Yeah I am morally against that and think it degrades the culture...

But if you can't find a Roberta Flack break on vinyl and you have it on CD... Hellz Yeah... No one will know except you... So that's more of a personal issue....

I sample sounds off of movies... That don't make me any less authentic...

i was just curious. no diss....but if kats are "morally" against takin'...say a dr. dre drum instead of diggin'....what's the difference in taking any sample? "morally speakin'...ain't it doin' the same thing? the nature of much of hip hop is jackin' other people's stuff and changin' that junk to make it unique, different, and your own. once again...NO DISS...just curious. anyone care to explain? honestly...enlighten me. what's the difference in takin' a primo kick and tweekin' that junk and takin' a mo town sample and tweekin' that?

also....i respect diggin' and diggers (i dig much myself), however....like Kanye, i have no "code". i'll get a sound from ANYWHERE.......

I myself like to take a picture of the actual statue, however some people apparently like to take a picture of the picture I took.

I guarantee that nobody who has gotten a check in the mail for actually producing a record that sold more than 36 copies even cares where the sample comes from. I know big name producers who download mp3's off of Kazaa or Limewire to sample from. And there are at least two big current records where I personally downloaded the samples off the internet, burned a cd, and put it in the 4000.

All these die hard, backpacking purists are just mad they haven't seen a check in a long time or have never seen one, so they talk down on the new school of producers who are just as big as the artists themselves.

To all you die hard, backpacking purists out there who love hip hop and your MPC's more than life itself:

No...some people do. I for one do, and I've produced a record that sold a lot more than 36 copies... I'm not about to get into name dropping, but all I have to say it without getting into "I did this, he did that"...listen to the interlude before "Above the Clouds"...and that should say enough. Maybe it's rare, but producers do care...and I'd consider Primo a pretty big one
