some how, i always get a sample on every record i put on....i guess maybe i just look for differant things.

but if i dont sample something, or find something that i can currently use.....ill remember that album has a sample i can use.

im gonna start the sticky note thing though cause im startin to forget where shit is and i have to relisten...however, if i hit a sample i know i wont feel/find again ill sample it.

but most of the time i only sample it if it will work for the current project.

however, lots of times i have like 3 simaltaneous beats im working on.....i tend to loose focus however, and only one turns out good.

peace

I used to do the sticky note thing to remember where my samples were, until i found an Akai S20. Now i just got that hooked up to my PT01, and i record the samples into the S20 and save em. Then when i wanna make a beat i record the samples from my S20 into my EPS.

my boy passed me a donald fagen record, saying it was the worst shit he ever heard in his life and couldnt sample it..i made 2 banging tracks out of it, maybe my best beats yet..the biggest mistake you can make is NOT listening to the whole track regardless of how it sounds in the beginning, cuz an ill loop or sound can kick in at anytime ;)

I've been to a lot of Underground shows.... So far the best performers are Murs, Brother Ali, RJD2 and Jedi Mind Tricks...

Jedi by far is the best though.... Especially in Philly... Their shows are nuts in Philly... Gotta rock it for the hometown...

Their DJ (DJ Drew Dollars) which is also the DJ for Outerspace, He comes out from behind the turntables and gets everyone hype.... Stage dives and then starts a mosh pit... You are not allowed to stop moving for a second during their sets (except for when Stoupe plays his Interludes on stage, That's your only breather)...

Seriously the best shows on earth are Jedi shows...

That show in the picture was Jedi Mind, Outerspace, King Syze, Chief Kamachi, Reef the Lost Cauze, and 7L and Esoteric...

Great show...

RJ has 4 turntables going (That was his old set)... Since the new album he added the MPC into his stage set-up... Mainly because he chopped a lot more on the new album as well as laid out some synth lines and sh*t...

It is crazy... I mean he usually has one sample going across two of the tables that he goes back and forth looping... Then on the third table he has his drums goin... And he saves the fourth to set-up the next track and any transitions in the song... He recreates everything on the fly... It's insane...

And now he has the MPC in the set-up which is awesome... cause he did one fo the new tracks on it and he like played his chops live, but using the volume knob to accent the samples in this freaky way... It was a site to see is all I can say...

It's awesome cause you can hear his original samples and hear how he matched everything up... It's a really cool vibe to watch it put togetehr live...

And yea I'm goin to that show... Del the Funkee Homospaien is gonna be at the show as well... Just for the record...

I do the same thing too every now and then - except that I use a cassette deck.
It's a lot cheaper, and it really gives a nice flavour to the sample.

I just recently found a tape that I made 8 months ago, full of nice samples I didn't even remember I had.

yo, cheech, do you use any special cassette recorder or just like a regular stereo for that?

Nope, just a regular deck, got it for 5 euros from a flea market.
It's a little bent but it works.

I couldn't find an exact pic but it looks just about like this one
