(read the sarcasm)haha good thread, yea I used to be a "grab everything" record addict...really because I started collecting records way before I even messed with producing, but then once I started making beats I got even more addicted to finding smash and grab record collections...buy anything I could get my hands on lol....
Well after I realized I was in a race and I was the only one in the race, I told myself there is no point on me doing this any more...I got myself up to about 2000 records and for the last couple months I have been sifting like crazy not even making beats just going through records and getting rid of all the wack sh!t that I know I either cant sample or will never play ever again...No sense on lugging around dead weight the way I finally see it....
So lifes been hell lol, If I have to see another frank sinatra record or a F'in christmas album some ones getting merked....but it's all good I am trying to see the light at the end of the tunnel....
My plan is to get and keep my collection down to 1 bookcase or around 500 records give or take...but not just any junk 500 records of pure funk! ya digg....
I can't wait, you know how bad I used to hate to want to get busy making a beat and then having to go through 20 records just to get something half decent naahhh that str8 kills the workflow...and normally my buzz on top of that....

Theres a few real dope sinatra breaks, one particular Salaam Remi used for a real dope beat, well im not sure 100% if it was the sinatra one or another rendition of the same track but if its another version then its totally identical to the sinatra one.. I did have the track but it seems to be avoiding me at the moment hopefully i'll be able to pull it out soon.

^^ nah trust me I feel you, I am one of the first to not sleep on anything...it's just my ear is being trained and I am getting a better general idea of what I am wanting or want to work with...
That was kind of my whole point to that post pimpin...I mean yea maybe you myte find an ill break on a sinatra record, but at this point in the game i don't want to go through 100 sinatra records for that 1 break....
In all honesty I don't even digg for breaks I have drums for days...I more search for instrumentation and or ill one shots.....
I guess I have come to find out that it really isnt THAT difficult or expensive to come across or get ill records...and for that reason I feel like why waste my time messing with a record or a sample that I only kind of like. Now trust me if I was limited to ONLY 10 sinatra records in my whole collection then shiaaaaayt I'd be pumping out heatrocks with em' but It would just make my job alot harder...and when things get hard, they lose the fun aspect....and thats something I dont want to do....
I don't mess with a record/sample just because I know I can freak it, I mess with the record/samples that won't let me put it away untill I freak it...feel me?

When i say breaks.. im not referin to drum breaks.. just breaks in general....
It might be a track of just double bass and strings.. or a track which has a break down to just guitar and bass... its still a break, alot of people seem to get that confused and think of "breaks" as just drums.
When i talk breaks im talkin instrumentation.. if im talkin drum breaks i will usually say "drum break".
Just to clear that up to save confusion.
Like the sinatra thing i was talkin about, i was talkin real dope instrumentation break... same as the other break mentioned (well thats drums and instrumentation, just sounds pure hiphop wouldnt even need to chop or add drums)..
But alot of people dont seem to call it like that, when peeps talk breaks 99% of the time alot of peeps just think drum breaks, but a break is simply the breakdown.. a break can be anything from instrumentation to drums to just bass to wierd sound effects
