Old Skool drum breaks. Where to find them?

vhs tapes have been sampled for a while now... you gotta go get laser discs and 8-traks. i have pulled so many dope sounds off 8 tracks. its also fun to layer the same sample from an 8 track and from a record. i did this with an elo sample. fun.

yo nym, have you ever seen that micheal gaundry dvd where he loops video of some dude playing the drums... seems like something you would be into.

nym has a great point. new or old. Point is look everywhere and anywhere. But there are "drum breaks" on records other than soul and jazz joints. There are even records of nothing but drummers getting down. Live drum sessions ect. Sometimes looking in places where other people dont or wouldnt think to look is your best bet. To be honest thats the case most of the time. Dont get sucked into the gimmic. Seek II elevate.

Not to sound like a shtty response ...

but also i might add, while phatdrumloops and other sites and sources are good (as far as information goes) the quality of recordings are mostly garbage and like suggested not always the part or phrase you would take if you did in fact have the record or recording. But it is a great source to learn information and listen to samples of the records. Nice to put on a list that you take on digging missions or whatever your style is. At the end of the day its about what ever works and makes you happy. (Just my opinion and experience.)

The vinylistics series of sample cd's have all the classic breaks if you're after a quick fix.

Speaking of drum breaks that aren't from Soul, Jazz, and Funk.

Kanye's "Heard 'Em Say" uses Tommy James and the Shondell's "Candy Maker" which is a psychedelic song.

GOOD LUCK finding that song, it's off of their very first album. NO ONE has it. Looked on LimeWire, BT (all the torrents are dead that claim to have it), Rhapsody, iTunes. I think I saw the 45 single on eBay for $80.
