If I see HOOTERS or BOOTY I am copping it, also I look for big AFROS and if all else fails, listen to something at the listening station at the record shop no matter how stupid it looks. Also if it's under five dollars I take a gamble sometimes.

I look at the type of fonts that are used on the cover. If it's an ugly overdone font with glows or bad 3d's i'll buy it.

Anything thats cheap!!!!!!! Even if I get just a 1 second sample that I can use, the money I spent on it was well worth it.
Also, you'd be suprised how many you can get by just flashing money in front of the store owner when you walk up with a stack of records.
They want to get rid of it just as much as you want to get it.

Most record stores that also sell secondhand vinyl get more junk then they could ever sell. They usually throw out at least a crate a month. If you just ask them to give you a call when they do so, you can just pick it up for free.

50 cent- $1 bin grab 20 records that look interesting 12" or 7". &' are dope bcuz they have two versions or instrumentals alot of times. Also if you dig at the same places all the time, get buddy buddy with the owner and he might let you dig throught the stuff that's not available to the walk buy customer. I pick records for alot of reasons main criteria 1) no name muthfukkas- if you rob them odds are they will never hear it and other people won't know where it came from.
2) dates for soul and jazz records, 80's for rock
3) wierd covers
4)song titles that reach out and grab you by the balls when you walk by.

if it smells bad.....I will take it because this person might not have cherished this album....I am pretty sure something rare will be on it....not only that...the person will let it go for the Low-Low!

but at the same time......I have been known to use all techniques above........esp. @$$ & titties.....and afros!...or just all white dudes on the cover!

White dudes on the cover..HMMM! Actually I found some interesting stuff with some bugged out white dudes on the cover too! It was on some weird psychedelic rock shit! Dudes looked like real herbs but they had the funk! But mostly I try to stick to 'fros that's were you find the real funky shit!

Check out some long haired, make-up wearin', tranny looking, heavy metal from way back for some crazy fast drum solos, and a lot of those records end with that real strong chord that fades out, grab it for a nice guitar stab

My favourite record labels to look for are CTI, Fantasy, Verve, Impulse, Curtom, Stax, Volt. There something that every single digger knows about, but still, this is where I find a lot of my favourite stuff.
