the two ain't necessarily linked. i got mates who are massive audiophiles with
huge record collections and have no interest in sample based music.

me on the other hand... i got a handful of shytty vinyl that i spent probably
20 bucks on in total, and i make a fair few beats - mainly using sounds i create...

so maybe i lose cred in some people's eyes... maybe my audiophile mates
are wastin their money in some folks eyes...

ha i hope i dont get bagged for this but I'm new and have only had my MPC for a week and I can't wait to get a turntable and some records to sample because it seems like alot of fun going and searching for those records and choppin them up. But someone here said mp3s sound like garbage how so? ( I really don't know they sound good to me but I'm just a newbie haha)

it really is fun just choppin music period & redoing it for your own flava. go get that turntable or just sample str8 up from your computer & do it that way. as long as it bangs, it's all G.

the prob i found in youtube is that the audio is usually 64k. i like a nice 320 mp3. I found alot of nice spoken word though.

I love digging. I thinking digging is half the fun of breakbeats and samples. But digital digging has a place in my work flow. My main problem is i think even with a 320kbps mp3 the only way i have of sampling it is with my 5g video ipod and i feel the output of the headphone jack on this thing isnt all that great but it works for somethings. I dont have all the $ to get all the hot and rare wax yet but i try my best and even when i find a copy of a break in my area the record is pretty crackling like oat bran because most my ish is thrift store finds.

does anyone have a link to that allthebreaks cd? i had it from torrent once but have since lost the files.

I know it's basically all be said but if you sample and don't know your way around a record store, you probably don't have much of a style. THe reason i say that is because you are relying on other people's style to make your own music. That and the fact it seems like alot of people getting their stuff from the net are just really limited in general, having to flip something they know has been flipped way too much, running out of samples in general, etc. I just think if you limit your self to the net, you will quickly get bored and move on, or that's what i see with alto of people.

mMM...perhaps that's why rap is stuck,these dudes are out of ideas cause they keep using the same stuff thats been put up on the net every one and there grandma has those beats?

I guess at the end of the day does it matter? Me personally am not sampling off youtube, Especially if its some sh*t 30,000 other people have played. I rather dig and find some rare a$$ record that noone has heard in ages but thats just me. Whatever works for you
