Very simple concept, very hard to find.

I work with an older cat (59) who took some interest when he was told I DJ and still spin vinyl quite a bit. He approached me one day and said "you like older music" I said "Yup".

Next day dude brought me 5 crates of late-late 60's to very early 80's Soul, Funk and Disco.

Turns out dude was a DJ back in the day, and still has all his old records. He gave me what he called "a small portion" of his collection and said if I wanted I could have the rest. I gladly accepted, although have yet to grab them I'm running out of room in my apartment lol. I haven't even gone through half of what I have.

His price: he gave me a stack of specific vinyl and asked me to digitize them for him so he could put them on his Ipod, which I did immediately.

By far the best crate diggin experience I've ever had. SHIZ, I dig at home now LOL LOL LOL.

I hope some of you manage to come across the same good fortune. Once I get through with these, I may try seeking out older retired DJ's.... Dudez is GOLD!!! LOL

that would happen to me a bit. i'd be going through a pile of records on the street and someone would come up to me and say 'heh man, you like old records..." often a crazy adventure would follow, involving trips to the outer boroughs and even a bbq with old aunts and the family.

I was just at a flea market the other day, and I came across a vendor selling a deceased persons belongings that was hauled out of a commercial storage shed.
It was like something out of a dream. This guy quite possibly had the best collection of 70's and early 80's soul, funk, r&b, rock, Jazz you name it. Unfortunately I only had 35 bucks on me and he wanted a dollar a piece for each record.

Long story short....I bartered with the dude and made out with about 30 choice records. Sad actually, because it was atleast a 100 degrees+ out there that day, and the vinyl was just sitting out there in the sun melting away.

This is about the third time though that Ive come across a solid collection that was hauled out of someones storage shed

Its days when you stumble across a stash like that, that makes all those countless hours spent diggin through the crates worth it!
