How much should I pay for a good used Technics 1200 MKII?

Whats the dilly? School me.
I want one in very good to excellent condition with the hood and hinges intact.
Anything I should be on the look out for?

if you can hook it up listen to see if the RCA's are going out on it,make sure the lock and the height adjustment work and in tact,check the pop up lite too, those tend to go out, other then that ,...oh yeah check the pitch on it too look at the strobe on the platter if it fluctuates then there may be some motor work that needs to be done to it.....other then that i wouldn't pay more then 250 used if you look on CL you can find some for cheap prolly even 2 for around 600 if your lucky.

350 for a mint one.

i sold two mint mk2s without needles (but with headshells) for 750. they were MINT though. i had barely used em and i was the second owner (i copped em for 600 haha)

3's a lil steep, but yeah they shouldnt go more then that or yuor getting ripped ,your better off buying a new one for 500, they pretty much hold there value,i got 6 techs 4 1200's and 1 1650 1 sl3350 2 of which i bought for 5 bucks each at a garage sale and the 1200's i had my OG 2 for 29yrs and the other 2 i bought 1 for 250 10yrs and the other was given to me , i have toreplace the RCA's.
i'm working on a set up for my son,he has his collection of records going already 3yrs.

you might be able to get some news ones at guitar center pretty cheap with some haggling...

Id hope so, i was just down at gc today and they had two technics setup on display and they wanted like $599 for each one, dayammm, i would recommend cl as i was just on there and saw quite a few in my area ranging from 200 to 300, probably gotta be at least one or two of em thats good, guess it depends on yer area though.

btw if anyone here knows the "secret" to hagglin down those gc peeps fill me in.....well less its bj's cuz i dont want a new 1200 that bad lol

paid $400 for a pair in like 04... pretty beat up though, had to replace the rcas, and clean em up a bit... never got all the stickers off em though...

It's like haggling anywhere else. Cars, appliances, furniture, flea markets, etc...

Make sure you're talking to the right person who can make the decision. Have cash on hand and be ready to buy them -- don't haggle unless you're ready to make the purchase right there -- if you have to leave to get cash, it's a deal breaker.

Tell them you can get them for X amount somewhere else. Make a reasonable offer. Be polite. If they don't budge be prepared to walk.

GC like to see proof of price match so you better know what your asking for and have proof or no sale,i did this with my mixer 2yrs ago seen it on line for 400 took in a print out and thats what i go it for and i didnt even have money they approved me credit for 2000, the american way! NO MONEY ? =CREDIT

$200 for a used one. They are beyond easy to work on, if needed.
