Favourite countries for digging

Have you ever been digging in a different country? Whats been your favourite place in the world for digging so far?

(I'll just assume most heads in here are from the US)

hey, jnorth, if your from yorkshire you might know hebden bridge, a guy used to come here every week with a transit van full of vinyl and sell each record for 50 pence no matter what it was, I have had so so many finds from this guy, he looks like an old sailor and smokes a pipe.

last thing I bought from him was JEFF Francois de Roubaix. That can go for like £40, I got it for 50 p in mint condition an it's actually an amazing record. so i'd say hebden bridge or Amsterdam have been my best spots, oh and I found somehwere amazing in belgium 2 but I can't remember the name.

having only really been able to afford to travel over the last year or two and having not spent all of that time digging, I will say that my recent trip to Berlin was good for unusual records even if they weren't all 40 years old. as preemo said "i still dig not just for the oldies but for the new stuff as well"...

I picked up a 1967 german copy of the 'That's Soul' vinyl comp that I only had on CD (except the CD is called This Is Soul)...VG condition, nice record. A few indie 7"s and reissued 45s and the previously mentioned MF Doom meets Clutchy Hopkins LP which I had no idea about until I saw it...golly gosh it's dope though

Hebden bridge! I've been there - tasty little vinyl spot there if I remember correctly. I picked up that atmosphere headshots re-issue and a couple of breaks records.

I've been there only once. I did find a shop but it was closed and I'm not sure if it sells vinyl. After that i only found a few charities. Maybe i wasn't looking well enough?I'm not around West Yorklshire often because i'm from South Yorks. I don't drive yet so Hebden Bridge is a trek. Is it worth another outing?

Anyways it's good to hear from a few local heads There any places in Todmorden?

ok this will be one of those if only you had of come here a while back things but we had a shop called hydra, it sold nothing but 2nd hand rare records that were well priced, anyway thats gone now so I dont know why i'm telling you. Tomorrow is hebden bridge market day so i'm gonna check if the old man with the pipe is there with his van full of records, if not i'll check todmorden market, I think thats on a thursday, he might be there. If I can find him i'll let you know cos it's totally worth checking out.
